Flicka Irish Hurricane
In Flicka Friends
Hal DeVaney wrote about Irish Hurricane changing hands in Flicka Friends #29 (Spring 2003). Her buyer, a sailor named Mark who worked at the local West Marine and lived aboard at Galveston Yacht Basin, was leaving his job to go cruising full time and had come down to her from a Hunter 27. DeVaney describes her as a 1979 Pacific Seacraft boat with an offshore record already behind her, equipped with a solar panel, a wind generator and a full inventory of sails — ready to go, in his phrase. On DeVaney's advice Mark put in a shakedown sail before setting off for Louisiana.
